Virtual care can be a faster, more convenient, more comfortable way to get treatment. It's a good option for kids, since it can be beneficial for them to remain in their school and community. They don't have to put life on pause while they get care. Plus, virtual sessions can save parents hours of time spent traveling to and from appointments.
Not all virtual providers are available on all plans. To see if these providers are in your network, select See my options. Sign in to your regence.com account, select Find virtual care, and then make sure to click on the Virtual care tab. You can also call or chat online with Customer Service to see what's available to you.
It can be hard to detect mental health conditions in children and teens because it's naturally a time that involves a lot of change. 50% of mental health conditions begin by age 14 and 75% by age 24.¹ Signs that your child may have a mental health condition include:
- Complaining of frequent headaches or stomachaches
- Having outbursts, or being very moody or irritable
- Changes in being social or staying away from others
- Having difficulty concentrating
- Lacking energy
- Expressing hopelessness about the future
- Being very critical of themselves
Though different kids are affected by social media in different ways, there is growing concern about—and evidence on—how social media negatively impacts kids' mental health. In 2023, the U. S. Surgeon General released an advisory about the risks of harm to youth mental health that social media can create, as well as the steps we can take to minimize it.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is raising awareness about the significant rise in fake pills made to look like prescription pills, such as Xanax, Adderall and OxyContin. These counterfeit pills may contain fentanyl, a synthetic opioid-and often in a lethal dose. Learn about "One pill can kill" or about accessing Narcan (naloxone) to treat an opioid overdose.
