As a Regence Medicare Advantage member, your plan includes the BlueCard® program. This means you have access to a large network of doctors and hospitals throughout the country.
With many Regence plans, your BlueCard benefits work similarly to the way they work when you're at home. For example, if you have a run-in with poison ivy while hiking in another state and see a doctor, you'll be charged the rate that the Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield company of that state has negotiated with its local providers.
With Regence Medicare Advantage HMO plans, your BlueCard coverage may be more limited and include emergency care only.
To find out about your out-of-state coverage, call the Customer Service number on the back of your member ID card or contact us.
Sign in to your account at regence.com to find an in-network doctor, hospital or clinic when you’re away from home. Don’t have an account? Create one now.
You can also always call 1 (800) 810-BLUE at any time (24 hours a day, 7 days a week), or use the National Doctor and Hospital Finder to find covered doctors.
When you arrive at the doctor's office or hospital, be sure to present your member ID card. You can pull it up in just a few taps on the Regence mobile app. After you receive care, you shouldn't need to complete any claims forms or pay up front for any services outside the usual out-of-pocket expenses. Later, you'll receive an explanation of benefits (EOB) from Regence as usual.
Blue Cross Blue Shield Global® Core is a program that puts you in contact with health care professionals, hospitals and medical assistance when traveling or living outside the United States, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands. Regence Medicare Advantage Plan coverage is limited to urgent and emergency care when traveling abroad. Part D prescription medications are not covered abroad.
Prior to your trip, call Customer Service or email us to get information about your international coverage. Visit Blue Cross Blue Shield Global® Core or download their app to see if there's an in-network hospital at your destination. Present your member ID card when you get care, and in most cases, you shouldn't need to pay up front for inpatient services.
However, for outpatient care or care that isn't arranged through Global Core, you may need to pay the doctor or hospital up front. After paying, complete an international claim form and send it to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Global® Core Service Center.
